Sausage and Cheese Calzone

Sausage and Cheese Calzone Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- INSTRUCTIONS 1 cup sausage, cooked and crumbled
- 1c shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/2 tsp italian seasoning
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Directions:
- Combine Water, Sugar And Yeast In A Bowl Set it aside for around 5 minutes, until frothy.
- In another large mixing bowl or deep dish, combine flour and salt. Mix in the yeast mixture along with olive oil and stir till a dough is formed.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Put the dough in an oiled bowl, cover and let it rise about 1 hour.
- Heat your oven to 425°F (218°C)
- Turn out risen dough onto a floured surface and roll out into circle.
- In a separate bowl, combine sausage with mozzarella and ricotta cheese; add Italian seasoning.
- Scoop the fillings onto one half of the dough circle, allowing for a small border.
- Place the other half of dough over the filling and crimp edges to seal.
- Have a beautiful, golden color over the top from a beaten egg.
- Roast for 20–25mins until blond.
- Cool for a few minutes then slice and serve.
