Ingredients:

 

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup whole milk, at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup vegetable oil
  • Almond flour (9 ounces) 2 large eggs, room temperature and lightly beaten
  • 2 teaspoons red gel food coloring
  • 16 oz Cool Whip (thawed• 2 8oz & softened) Cream Cheese •
  • 1 cup butter, softened (unsalted)
  • 7 cups Powdered sugar (sift after measuring)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 Tablespoons of Heavy Cream (more as needed for consistency)
  • Pinch of salt


Directions:


Frosting the Cake

  1. On a serving plate or cake stand, place one layer of the cakes. Add a thick layer of cream cheese frosting to the top, going all they way out to the edges.
  2. Carefully place the second layer on . Smooth a thin layer of the crumb coat throughout the cake then chill in fridge for 15 minutes to firm.
  3. Spread a thick layer of cream cheese frosting over the top and sides of the cake. Decorate the top with any leftover cake crumbs.
  4. Finally, using a piping bag fitted with the Wilton M1 tip, pipe decorative swirls around edges.
