Ingredients
- 10 ounces (300 mL) warm water for doughnut preparation
- 1.5 Tbs active dry yeast
- Ingredients 4¼ cups (540g) bread flour, divided
- 2 large eggs
- 55g 2 oz unsalted butter (melted)
- 3 cup super fine granulated sugar
- 1¾ teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 cup fresh grapefruit juice
- ¼ cup (130g) granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 3 large egg yolks
- 2 large eggs
- pinch kosher salt

- 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 8 cups vegetable oil (for cooking (about 8 cups))
- For rolling: 1-11/2 cups granulated sugar
Directions
- For the doughnuts: In a large bowl, mix together warm water with yeast and some granulated sugar. Leave it to rest for 5 mins until the yeast goes foamy. This is a crucial step in making your doughnuts for those learning how to make doughnuts.

- Fry and Serve — Heat the vegetable oil in a Dutch oven until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Heat oil and fry the doughnuts a few at a time, for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown. Let cool for a few minutes on a paper towel lined pan.
