Ingredients:
- 6 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- White bread, crusts removed 1 loaf
- 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
- 1 cup apple cider or juice
Directions:
- Oven at 350°F (177°C).
- Add the sliced apples, sugar and cinnamon to a pan with melted butter. Simmer until apples are tender.
- Grease a mold or pan(xhrqweets) with butter.
- Slice the bread and line a mold (bottom round) with it, following by side as well trying to overlap each slice.
- Spoon the cooked apples onto a layer of bread and sprinkle raisins if using.
- Repeat with 1/3 of the bread , then some apple mixture and finally another layer of bread.
- Drizzle apple cider over the top.
- Pull it up and over the chicken, cover with foil and bake for about 45 minutes then remove the foil and bake for another 15 or so until golden.
- Serve warm or at room temperature, then turn the bowl out onto a serving platter.
