Crispy Falafel Bowls with Tahini Sauce & Fresh Herbs


Ingredients:

  • 1 15-ounce can chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 cup chopped parsley
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Directions:

  1. Falafel: In a food processor, add chickpeas, parsley and cilantro (leftovers both okay), onion, garlic cumin coriander along with plenty of salt/ pepper. Pulse until roughly chopped. Pulse again with the flour until just combined.
  2. Shape the Falafel: Using an ice cream scoop, get your hands wet and take a tablespoon sized amount of mixture to form into 1 inch round balls.
  3. Cook the Falafel: In a large skillet, heat oil over medium. Cook the falafel balls 2-3 minutes each side until they turn a golden color and are crispy. When ready, put them on paper towel to sop excess oil.
  4. To cook the Tahini Sauce, clean a little bowl then stir collectively 3 tablespoons tahini with juice of half lemon,water to attain desired texture,two teaspoon minced garlic,chilli powder and taste salt. If the sauce appears to be too thick, you can always add a little more water until it meets your needs.
