Purple Velvet Cake Recipe

Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup softened unsalted butter
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 3 large eggs
- 2tablespoon purple colour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Candy bar frosting (filling and topping)Cream cheese frosting in between the layers
Directions:
- Grease two 9 inch round cake pans and preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light an fluffy.
- With the machine running slowly beat in one egg at a time for it to be aerated.
- Add the buttermilk and vanilla extract for tanginess.
- In a separate bowl, whisk flour with baking soda,baking powder and salt. Mix in the dry ingredients slowly until just incorporated.
- Mix in some purple food coloring and fold the batter until it has a nice consistent color.
- I liked the idea to bake them into layers and distribute batter evenly.
- Pop into the oven, 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted.
- Cool the cakes in their pans on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove from the pans and place on a cooling rack to mollify completely.
- Let cool and then layer with cream cheese frosting between the cakes, as well as frost on top of them. Now, your masterpiece is ready to be served.
