Classic No-Bake Tiramisu

Ingredients

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 8 ounces mascarpone cheese
  • Strong brewed coffee, cooled (1 cup)
  • 1 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 24 ladyfinger cookies
  • Cocoa powder for dusting
  • Chocolate, grated or shaved (optional)

Directions

  1. Whisk together the egg yolks and sugar in a saucepan. Add the milk and cook on medium.Flip once first side is golden brown Continue, stirring constantly until mixture thickens.
  2. Bring it off the heat and allow to cool.
  3. Add the sugar and cream in a second large bowl, beat on high until stiff peaks form.
  4. When the egg still warm, fold in ¾ of whipped cream and add all mascarpone together until become smooth.
  5. Mix the coffee and if used, add some coffee liqueur in a shallow plate. Dip each ladyfinger in coffee mixture quickly; do not soak, and place then into the dish.
  6. Divide half of the mascarpone mixture over ladyfingers.
  7. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers followed by the rest of mascarpone mixture.
  8. Wrap it and let it rest in the refrigerator for a minimum of 4 hours, preferrably overnight.
  9. When ready to serve, dust with cocoa powder and throw in some chocolate shavings!
